Hatha yoga
Hatha yoga is one of the most popular styles of yoga, focusing on physical postures and breathing exercise. Ashtanga yoga, Power yoga and yoga classes you can take at the gym are all Hatha yoga.
“Hatha” is a Sanskrit word. Ha means “sun,” and tha means “moon.” Hatha represents the balancing of the opposite levels of energy: Yin and Yang, front and back, top and bottom, right and left, and so on.
At Rainbow Yoga Tokyo, you can experience a modern approach to practice yoga. The class begins with calm breathing, self-massage/touch and repetition of simple movements in a unique way to warm up our body before practicing major Asana (=yoga postures). Yoga postures are practiced to align, strengthen, and promote flexibility in our body. Towards the end of the class, we practice Pranayama (=breath control techniques). By focusing on the full-body experience, we would feel deeper relaxation. We can feel refreshed after each yoga class.
The levels of classes
There are two different levels of yoga classes including on-line yoga at Rainbow Yoga Tokyo.
Gentle level
The basic yoga postures and their variations will be practiced. It is also suitable for beginners because there are not a lot of high-intensity yoga poses introduced in this class. At the end of the class, you will practice Pranayama (breathing techniques) for going into deeper relaxation.
Low intermediate ~ intermediate
This class is designed for those who are familiar with basic yoga poses. You will practice Sun Salutation flow at the beginning of the class as a part of warm-up. The wider variety of poses including inversion poses will be introduced. At the end of the class, you will practice Pranayama (breathing techniques).
